Without individuals stepping up to the plate like David Israel, our community wouldn’t be as great of a place as it truly is. David is a member of the Burney/Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department and has had an instrumental part in developing many things that have had a positive impact on the community. He had some time to explain to the foundation what the Burney/Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department Fund, which is organized through the DCCF, and what their department was all about. He explained that the fund was basically designed to be an alternative avenue for funding the fire department, plain and simple. All of that funding that the fire department receives is one hundred percent put back into the community in some way shape or form. The department holds a vast assortment of activities for the community including fish fries, antique and garden tractor pulls, and hog roasts among many others. The departments building is also open for the local 4-H club to hold their meetings as well as fund raisers to help those community members in need, funeral dinners, and it is also where all of the Burney and Clay Township members go to cast their ballots on election day. Obviously this department is a vital asset to the community and very important. David also explained that, in his opinion, if the department had unlimited resources that he would create some sort of incentives package for volunteers, being that volunteers are hard to come by in this day and age. Along with that they would like to provide training courses for any volunteers and also some sort of community involvement building. (needs more)
