Cliff and Jo Springmeyer Endowment
Denise Graham Interview (In her words)
On behalf of my late father, Clifford E. Springmeyer, and my mother, Josephine K. Springmeyer I am happy to answer your questions.
My father was born in Greensburg, Indiana on January 17, 1927 and lived there until he joined the military at around age twenty. While stationed in Alaska, he met my mother who was born in Wheatland, Wyoming on February 3, 1922. My father was in the Air Force and travelled around different places including Okinawa, the Philippine Islands, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Mississippi and Virginia. He retired in San Antonio Texas in 1971 at the rank of Lt. Col.
My parents had 3 children–Denise, Rosalyn and Stephen. They have 6 grandchildren.
The most important quality my father instilled in all of us was personal integrity: to do the right thing even when no one is looking. He was a living example of that quality and I am proud to have called him my father and we all miss him every day.
The money used to set up the endowment came from a gift from his late brother’s estate. My parents were happy to support the Decatur County Community Foundation and the mental health help it provides in Decatur County.
