Grant Given to Arts & Cultural Council

Art on the Square Gallery developed out of a collaboration between the Arts & Cultural Council of Decatur County, local artists and a local business owner. The gallery was part of the vision the Arts Council developed in their strategic plan. Artist Ann Smith was part of a two woman opening show. She chose to donate the proceeds of sales of her artwork to the Arc of Decatur County Endowment, a fund held at the Decatur County Community Foundation. As a young woman living with Down Syndrome, the Arc supports many of the activities in which she participates. In addition to her art, Ms. Smith works at Arby’s, takes classes at Developmental Services, Inc., and participates in Special Olympics.
