Here's an update from Bryce McCullough, a 2019 Decatur County Community Scholar!

"First and foremost, I would like to thank the Decatur County Community Foundation for their generosity and commitment to giving back to the community. Because of you, many students, including myself, have an opportunity to attend college and do so with much less financial stress. It is an honor to be a Lilly finalist and a Decatur County Community Foundation Scholar.

I will be attending Wabash College in the fall to study Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Now that graduation is over, I have had time to think about the direction I'm headed and what my next step will do for me. For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for civic engagement and a desire to help people and improve our society. This has inspired me to seek a career in law and public service. When pressed by people who ask me what my future plans are, the answer is simple: I will go to college, followed by law school, become a sponge for knowledge, and prepare myself in a manner that will equip me well to lead in any capacity on my career path.

It is my sincere hope to return to Greensburg after furthering my education. Not only because I love this community, but because I want to come back and be a part of the growth we are beginning to see. So many graduates won't return after walking across the stage, but I want to be part of a new group of Greensburg students who have been retained in the community after completing college. Receiving a scholarship from the Decatur County Community Foundation will make it one hundred times easier for me to return, because now that the community has invested in me, it has strengthened my vision of coming back and investing in the community.

I cannot thank the Foundation enough for your confidence in me and your contribution to my future endeavors. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten in the years ahead!"
