The most recent Large Grants Cycle was particularly competitive. “We received $178,267 in requests in this cycle alone,” stated Large Grants volunteer chair Larry Rueff. “Unfortunately, only $103,609 was available to support both this current cycle and the third and final cycle of the year.” As a result, the Large Grants Committee reviewed all requests very deliberately. Just over $25,000 in funding now remains for the last cycle.
“The last large grants cycle of the year is shaping up to be highly competitive, but our committee will do its best, as it always does, to address the most pressing needs,” said DCCF Executive Director Tami Wenning.
All DCCF grants are made possible thanks to the generosity of donors to the Decatur County Community Foundation. Gifts are invested with the oversight of an Investment Committee. Interest earned off of those investments is used to award these grants.
Currently the Lilly Endowment is offering a $2:$1 match on select gifts to the Community Fund. The Community Fund is the source of funding for Fire Grants, Small Grants, Large Grants and Capital Grants.
